About a few weeks back, I turned 27. 3 more years and I will hit 30s. As I grow older, my social circle streamlined. My friends and I met lesser and lesser but whenever we meet, we would have endless topics to talk about and time wasn't enough. Topics would evolve from gossiping other classmates in school to discussing about marriage and HDB. Our priorities change as we grow. During weekends, I would most probably spend time with my family and playing with my niece.

On my birthday, I took half day off to enjoy my worth. Work is endless and emails flows to my mailbox like water every seconds. At the end of the day, work is just work. "You never know when company stops loving you". And at noon, love picked me up from office to have brunch at The Reading Room. The Reading Room seems like a perfect place to wind down. It is located at Bukit Pusoh Road,a proximate distance to Outram Park. We chose that place because it has good reviews on the cosy ambiance.

It is a bit hard to locate The Reading Room as the entrance is just so small and so was the board. Didn't notice the board until I exited.

A homely settings with laid back sofa, surrounded with books one arm away.

The cafe was relatively small and I would estimate that it would hold no more than 70 people. Though it was small, they serve quite a variety of western foods and wine. I ordered a teriyaki chicken and Love ordered a Lobster pasta. The fried portobello was really good and I would love to order it again if i'm back there.

I had never before surround myself with books as I am not the type of person who is into reading. During my secondary days, I read Chinese novel.. Erm, you know whose type with a picture of a pretty lady face on the book cover and one book cost like a $3-$5 in popular? Honestly speaking, those are romantic novel but some would of course contain explicit content. But apart from that, I do occasionally read decent English storybooks which are seriously famous like Dan Brown, or Harry Potter? That was perhaps the last kind of books I read.

Caught Xiong instagram-ing

See the amount of books they have in the cafe.

You can read these books for free but remember, please put it back at the same place for the convenience of other readers. I am wondering if there are patrons who just go there to order a drink and read a book and come back another day to finish the entire content. As for us, we were just there for photo-taking.

When lunch was over, we went over to The Cathay to catch a movie, starring Jackie Chan. Time passed quickly when we were sitting in the movie theater, staring at the big screen and doing nothing . Sometime, it is just this type of non-moving activities makes the best day rather walking aimlessly in shopping malls, hoping from shops to shops and walked out empty-handed. I have kinda lost touch with the hippest fashion where young people goes to or the popular blogshop where young adults shop. To me, everything just come from Taobao. If I need a dress, I get from Taobao; if I need a vase, I get from Taobao; If I need speaker, I get from Taobao too.

Alright, we took a final photo in front of the cafe. Memorable.

This photo de soft skin effect very strong.

If you want can't locate The Reading Room, just take note of these potted plants in front of the entrance. Only then you will find your way there.

After a family meal at Linda's house, I went to the Matsui Hair Salon for my hair treatment. My hair has been breaking these days as it is too dry. They are currently having 30% off for during July and hence , i had decided on them.

The hair treatment cost $128. With 30% off, it cost about $90. Also, I was informed that with any hair treatment done, hair cut will be only half price!

After our hair treatment, Love was taking me to somewhere for dinner. I didn't know where we were heading as he did not tell me where dinner would be. Slowly, he was driving up Dempsey Hill.

He parked his car at :

The White Rabbit

There isn't a big sign board saying: The White Rabbit but one can tell from its building. I think The White Rabbit is the only restaurant which has a Church like theme.

You look comical in this photo love...

The interior is huge and dark. The lights weren't that bright but visible. They are trying to portray an atmosphere which stimulate romance. Well, being in romance means that you do not have to see your partner too clearly, kinda like a myopia haha!

Fine dining~

I didn't take much photos since i did not bring my camera along.

It may be just a bread. But the bread they served is a hot piping one, I have never tasted such a delicious bun alright! Never reject when they are trying to serve you. you might end up asking for more.

I ordered a cup of tea which comes with a bunny biscuit.

Food was served pretty quick. The potion of the food is just enough and they tasted great.

Can't remember what dish it is, but i can only remember its called something like lobster pasta.

Mushroom...? But very niceee too!!

And a...

Seabass....? Haha, seriously, I can't remember the name. I can only remember the taste >.<

Though we only ordered this much, it was enough to keep us full. Love has also ordered a dessert. But the dessert came with a candle..

Thanks for the arrangement bii!

And there... I passed my birthday peacefully this year... ...

Thanks for the photo bii :)

I had turned 26th this year. At this age, I do place an importance in my family and close friends. Ever since my 18th birthday, I was becoming homely each year. My lifestyle must have been affected largely by work too. I thought in my early career , I would frequent pubs and bar, hang out with friends and spend my money shopping.

But who knows, i began to love my bed much more after i went work.

And I've passed 25 already' life is travelling at 26km/hr everyday the moment i hit 26th. Start counting down to 30. Thinking about it, I would like to fulfill many things in life but look at it now. Its neither that I have the money nor the time.

But i will still make time for my family.

Just last weekend, Xiong's sil whipped up a family feast for lunch and I was there to fill my stomach. She had prepared since morning while the rest of us just went there to eat. There was a variety of dishes; salmon teriyaki, sambal prawn, crocodile soup, egg curry chicken etc!

She had prepared the food by the time we reached.

Chef cleaning the side of the plate

And ready for lunch!

And the 2 brothers had already taken the seats.

Very soon, we gobbled up the food, leaving the chicken wing plate empty. The curry chicken was really good, the egg was a bit chao ta but still good, i love the Hainanese cook style tang hoon and the sambal prawn! It was really a sumptuous lunch!

After we filled our stomach, these 2 guys in the photo above went for an afternoon nap. What a nice day, while their brother and sister in law clearing the foods. ZZzzz.

Not longer after, they took a cake out from somewhere. Only then i realise Xiong's elder brother went to buy a cake for me after his school. It was really heart warming.

Me and Linda.

The love of my life. Looking good after a short nap.

Making my wish ... ...

and his family.

Was happy that this gathering is made possible. It always feels great to slack with your family in a cosy home. Hope this gathering will always go on ^^.

Going to Genting was just a prelude to your actual birthday. I had been thinking what i could do for you on your birthday. Weeks before your birthday, I was shopping with my friends, jumping places to places, trying to look for a present for you. You had mentioned that you wanted a watch, an expensive one which is worth for investment. Oh well, i could not afford the one you want.

We walked from Mont Blanc to Gucci to Burberry, hopping from LV and finally to Prada. Ended up another blue clip wallet for you which i thought that you would like.

After getting your present, I was still thinking what I could do. As it was 2 days away from the day we were back from Genting trip, I felt limited to what i could do. Luckily, Linda managed to book a table for us at Hai Di Lao. I contacted your family before our Genting trip to ask them to make time for your birthday. The day before I ordered the Durian cake which turns out unexpectedly unpleasant somehow. It was a pity that your younger brother couldn't take some time off.

What was worst that I did not expect the heavy downpour. You had dressed up so perfectly but the rain kinda washed off every single effort you put on.

Happy Birthday Xiong!

And i am very glad that your family makes time for you on this special day.

Happy Birthday Xiong!

Just wondering why i had so many posts of rainbow cake at once, I had recently turned 25th this year!! (Had already become 25 last Sunday).

Ombre has becoming so in fashion that you can find on hairstyle, eyelashes and even cakes!

Few months back, i was crazy about having ombre hair (Xiong felt that it was a total disaster) but i decided to go for block hair colouring at Artica  (Read here). Though the hair colour had totally faded off by now, but at least i had purple hair once.

And introducing my

Ombre Cake!!

Too pretty to cut! Imagine how much efforts the baker had to do for the roses on the outer layer. 3 different colours! I was told to thaw the cake for 30 minutes before cutting.

Looking at the side

Full creamed

But best of all... ... Inside the cake... ...

My dainty rainbow cake!

Thanks to my love, he got this cake for me. This is of coursed a customized cake! I remembered telling him once that i wanted a ombre rainbow cake and this is what he got for me!! The cake was really good!! The cream is rich and the cake is devilishly good. The multi colour cake make you irresistible. And my family indulged in this heavenly cake!

I have no idea how much this cake cost but definitely not the price you can get from normal bakery shop.

The sticker gave you away honey,

The website for the Production Kitchen is so cool. You can also check out their facebook. They make beautiful, interesting cakes that suit almost all event.

Previously, i had also customised Xiong's birthday cake from the famous blogger: Shiberty.

Just some ideas if you are looking for customised cake ^^

On that day, though i have the prettiest cake on earth (O.O), Xiong wasn't there to sing a birthday song for me (只有唱歌才有过生日的感觉). He had to work till 10pm and i cut the cake without him.

But still, thanks for the cake, i loved it a lot. Seriously, i didn't expect that you would prepare for me. I even asked my mum to buy a small cake for my celebration. That was how my mum gave you away. Though you were not there, you have the next few days with me to Genting. Had enjoyed the trip, food and weather (and losing money in adult's arcade O.O).
