Honeymoon Day 1 in Paris 2019

21 June 2020

Half a year has passed. There has been many events in life go unplanned.
Last year love and I went to Europe for our honeymoon trip. We went places like Paris, Amsterdam, Manchester, Bath, London, Oxford. It was October (Cold~~) and we really enjoyed our trip. We returned Singapore on 4th Nov. The virus broke out in late Nov/ December. We are glad that we returned home safely before the broke out of COVID-19 went berserk. (We were lucky too)

It was a 2 weeks of fairy tale... and the facing harsh reality when we returned. Beside feeling broke, we have to deal with many emails which are waiting for us to clear. My colleagues were hoping for my return soon as they are struggling with lots of workload. But i do appreciate that none of them contact me when i was holidaying.

On the day when we reached Airport, Love's luggage handle suddenly broke off when we alighted the taxi at Changi. It was like 10 pm at night and shops are closing. We were flustered because the luggage and heavy and it would be difficult to tow / carry if we reached Paris. Immediately, we saw an atrium sales selling luggage was almost closing, we talked to the staff for help and we managed to get 1 luggage. After we purchased the luggage, we went to a corner and Love started unpacking and packing his stuff into the new luggage. It was a funny moment for both of us. We had a good laugh and went onboard.

After excruciating 13 hrs of flight, we finally reach Paris. SQ flight is good, just that i couldn't sleep on flight. I stayed mostly awake *sad*

Paris was raining when we landed

The neon bright colors of blue red and white made us excited- Charles de Gaulle Airport. It was early morning and Paris is raining.

Looking tired

We took several elevators to reach immigration and custom. It took a while to clear as there are many people landed from other parts of the world. We went over to collect our luggage after that.  The staff does not really speak good english so it took us a while to navigate the place. It took another turn when we heard that the train drivers are having a strike and there were either limited rides or long waiting time to get to Paris.

Oh no

People were rushing here and there, hopping trains to train. None of the people actually make noises or complaining. It seems like a normal routine in Paris. This will never happen in Singapore as Asian loves to complain.
We just board one of the train.

We found a place to sit and wait. And wait. AND WAIT. After 30min-1hr, the train was full and it finally moved, taking us to the destination. We decided that we shall just wait like the other passengers patiently, anyway, we are here for our honeymoon, we are not rushing for time or whatsoever. Love is trying to catch pokemon and his Mr. Mime.

Streets were empty, graffiti and not perfectly clean. I began to appreciate how lucky we were as Singaporeans.

Since train masters were on strike, there were definitely less trains and we are thinking hard to get to our hotel. Love is smart and im glad he is my travelling partner. Thanks to him we got on the correct train to our hotel.
The complicated train interchange

Finally reaching our station.

There are steps everywhere, just like Korea, you have to walk a lot. Luckily, i bought a pair of sport shoes just for the honeymoon. It was a good decision.  It was almost 1pm since we settled our check-in and having lunch nearby .

Food is good

We explored Paris on foot after lunch. People tend to portray Paris to be a very romantic, couple-ly feel, holding hands and running/ kissing under the rain, smiling and laughing with your partner, but in-fact, here is what happen

Im holding umbrella walking infront while love is wearing his hoodie jacket.

Walking in the rain? Mama told me i would get sick if i do that. Kissing on streets? You would probably taste the rain after your open your mouth. Holding hands? The pavement is narrow and it serves 2 ways traffic. Just walk in a line behind is better. Anyway, we were holding our phone catching pokemon.

I do have to say Paris is very scenic.

Hello  Eiffel tower !

We didn't explore too far since we were feeling tired. Night came early since its winter time and shops close like 6 pm? We returned our hotel and had a good rest.

Relais Saint Charles  Hotel
