Hi guys, I am back! My blog hasn't died yet. I have been disappearing time to time as we were busy planning for our Solemnisation, reading emails and following up with our coordinator closely as we were getting close to our big day.

Just a few days before our ROM, I was scrolling through Beauty Undercover , looking for a recommended salon to dye my hair.  As a budget person myself, I looked through the list of salons which were having promotions and comparing the price they offered. After looking at some reviews and photos, I decided to make an appointment with J7 Image. The very next day, I message them through FB messenger to make the appointment. It was totally fuss free and their response was prompt.

We arrived at J7 at around 12pm and one of the staff attended to us. She ushered us to the seats and asked if we wanted any water. After a while, the hair stylist, Sherlin came to attend me and asked if what I would like to do. As my ROM is near, I need a good dye and simple hair trimming. She recommended me a rather dark ash green since it would be a 'safe' colour.

J7 - Neat and bright layout. They are located at level 5.

Without further ado, she went to the back to mix the dye.

My hair was dry after few rounds of dye and bleach. The colour totally faded off and it feels heavy.

I was wondering how it would look like after the dye as I was afraid the colour wouldn't look good on me. But still, I trust the reviews as it was well recommended on the website.

And the dye process began.

Before the dye began, I remember her saying about the Olaplex treatment and how it wouldn't hurt my hair, but anyway, I went along with it, burning another $30 in my pocket to feel 'good'.

I sat there for like 30 minutes, with some kind of machine emitting heat around my hair. :| Not sure what was that.

With that machine, it definitely quickened the process of dying.

The massage was good and comfortable that I almost fell asleep.

After blowing my hair dry, I could see that my hair is regaining the healthy and shiny look.

Can't see the ash green from the photo but at least I don't look like an ah lian.

When my hair is completely dry, Sherlin went on to advise how she would be trimming my hair. As I told her that my hair is rather flat and heavy, she recommended me layering the inner layers of my hair etc. As I was no expert in this area, I let her do what it deems fits.

And overall, I am a happy and satisfied customer.

And you see the difference?!

Ok, I should show the front look. Can you see any green tint at the end of my hair?

My love also did his haircut there. As his makeover wasn't as extreme, I shall not post his photos here :X

Overall, the total cost of haircut cost around $230. Also, they are not pushy in telling you to buy their shampoo or doing extra hair treatment.

1 Day escape to Malaysia from the expensive Singapore

The four of us.

Last Sunday, Xiong and I tagged along with his brother and sister-in-law to Johor Bahru for our personal grooming (not to mention foodies of course >.<) !

We were jammed at the causeway for about an hour and finally reached JB at about 1.45pm. As the salon is located at Holiday Inn Plaza, his brother, Chris parked at KSL for it was a 5 minute walk from there. The carpark in KSL offer car grooming services and i saw lots of Singaporean cars in their area.

But before that, we stopped by Soon Soon Heng Bak Kut Teh which is just opposite KSL. The soup was good as it wasn't too peppery. What i like most is that Malaysia Bak Kut Teh has lots of other ingredients such as pork ball, different types of mushroom and has a kind of herbal taste. Since all of us were hungry, we just tucked in when the food came. Please pardon me if i have no photo for it :(

It was a quick lunch and we walked to Holiday Inn after that. There were some renovations going on so the roads were uneven. Just be cautious when you walk along the roads.

Holiday Inn Plaza is a old building with about 3 storey and but air-conditioned . We were there at about 2.40pm but most of the shops were not open. There were massages palour, salons and manicures shops around. We booked an appointment with Toyako Salon at 3pm. Anyway, we went in earlier since we were already there.

Toyako Salon

I was recommended by Vivian, who went there to have her hair done years ago. I decided to try out.

The salon is quite dark as most of their furniture are black. There are many smiley stickers around the salon. You can find them almost everywhere. Perhaps the employees were reminded to keep their smiles at all times. The staffs were nice and chatty.

Xiong was given a cut and scalp treatment and he was done pretty fast. For me, i wanted a colour+block, cut, treatment. My stylist was Vee Koi (Cool name!) and he 研究my hair for a little while before recommending ash green. Ash green wasn't the type of colour i was going for as i wanted ash blue. But i trusted him because he is a hair stylist (no wrong mah). And the work began...

My original hair has 2 tones and it would not appear good if the roots of my hair is darker than the rest of it.

The stylist washed my hair and dyed the roots to ensure even colour when he dyed my hair later.

I know i looked damned funny like this. You can see the roots of my hair turned brownish.

The colour of the dye definitely freak me out. It was a total green and i was so afraid that i would look like Shrek after i was done. But... ...the effect came out really good.

My ash green hair. Thanks to previous bleaches, the dye on those area turned out to be green.

My hair stylist is Vee Koi. He is really patient and he explains the steps of treatment and purpose. My total bill came up to est SGD150. If you are going to JB to do your hair, you can try Toyako Salon.

And after a whole afternoon spent in the salon, its time for dinner. We had dinner at some Korean BBQ restaurant.

Posing with the menu O.O

The wide spread of food on the table. The foods were pretty good and all tasted just right.

We ordered 4 plates of pork and best of all, there was a staff to cook or us ! (Great for people who doesn't know of the meat was fully cook). Though the place looks really like those ITAS but the price were reasonable. It sums up to SGD69 for 4. Can you imagine the price we are paying in Singapore?!

End the meal with watermelon that was being cut into a shape of an arrow .

Oh Yes! Finally had the kind of hair colour i want.

I did contemplate for a while whether or not should i go for extra-ordinary colours such as ash green, blue, block red, or pink. In order to ensure that my company allowed, i even asked my boss if i was able to dye my hair (Well, image plays a very important role!). Surprisingly, he said: I don't care ~!

Well, that's where i decide to go for a change.

Woo hoo~~ It is Wednesday! Tomorrow is Lunar New Year Eve! Company give us half day off and a holiday for us on next Monday!

Yesterday, me and honey went for a hair cut. It was a impromptu decision as we had only decided at about 4pm. After work, my boss fetched me to bugis before i took a bus down to Orchard. I bought my shoes pretty quick and spent about $60+ for 2 pair of shoes at Mitju.

Currently, they were having promotion of 10% if you present your Watsons Card. But im not sure if minimum spending is required. And happy with my buys, I  walked over to Far East to meet him.

We walked to Shunji Matsuo but they were full and unable to attend to us. Then we walked over to Kobayahsi Hair design at 5th floor and the same thing happened to us. Dear suddenly decided that we go to the same hair dresser which Jayne always visits.

Her frequent salon is located at level 2, near the bridge that linked to DFS opposite.

I made a trip up to far east last weekend and visited :

Hair Profile.

It is located on the first floor of far east. It wasn't difficult to find as it was the only hair salon on the ground floor. I had estimated to spend $200 on my hair, which includes having a good dye and giving it a trim. The guy who served me was the leading stylist.

At my first thought, i thought he was just an assistant (newbie) who only knows the minimum. His name was Nesley. But for god sake, he has 10 years of experience in this field and definitely knows how to manage my hair. Definitely someone with great skills. The way he straighten my hair was like, my hair has never been so pretty before!

But anyway, back to topic. He cut my hair, blew them dry and started dying. When i spent $115 for dye, he gave me a free treatment while looking at my dear getting a haircut.

At the end of 3-4 hours, this is the result:

And him..

He did not have an angrument with the hair stylist but the hair stylist interpret in the wrong way.

Though u look like a punk now, i still love you.
